GLIN-Education is a forum for sharing news related to Great Lakes education
and resources available for teachers and their students. Appropriate
postings concern the release of new curricula and publications, job
opportunities, requests for proposals, and announcements of regional
conferences or special Great Lakes events. If appropriate,
GLIN-Education also can be used as a forum for discussion of Great Lakes
education issues and/or opportunities.
The GLIN-Education list was
developed following a workshop titled "Environmental Data for Teaching
about Great Lakes Pollution Prevention," conducted at The Ohio State
University in July 1994. The workshop participants, who constitute the core members of this list, believe that increased communication will lead
to increased effectiveness in the effort to improve the quality of life
for all in the Great Lakes region.
We hold that there is synergy in
communication, creativity in cooperation and magic in this machine. We
invite all members of the electronic community to join us in sharing
ideas, materials, concepts and visions leading toward increased awareness,
concern, and most importantly, involvement of people within the Great Lakes
basin in seeking solutions to the problems of these lakes and their
associated ecosystems. We are especially interested in encouraging
educators, teachers and learners to share the methods and results of
successful instructional experiences, whether in formal or informal
settings. We actively solicit contributions from all cultures and all
disciplines.
About GLIN <
http://www.great-lakes.net>
-----------------------------------------
The purpose of GLIN is to take
advantage of the region's electronic networking services to foster economic
and environmental development and protection of these great freshwater
seas. Education is a cornerstone of its success. GLIN brings the resource
providers online: the scientists, resource managers, policy makers and
decision makers in the region. This community is a rich source of knowledge
to intermingle with educators and learners.
GLIN-Education is a
closed list. This means that only subscribers can post directly to the
list. Non-member submissions are forwarded to the list owner for approval.
